Dan Spence has been making chocolates and candies for 45 years!

"Olde Country Chocolates". To this day, Dan uses the tried and proven recipes that were used in Germany before 1920 by John Kish and his father. Dan started to make chocolates & other confections at the age of 13,Thru the years Dan has never got tired of making chocolates & other candies. He learned the trade from an old-fashioned  German chocolatier & candy maker .

John Kish was chosen to operate The Hershey Estates Candy Kitchen (Mr. Hershey's small retail candy shop) where Dan  learned the trade of candy making at the Milton Hershey School, Hershey, Pa. During Dan's five years at the school and working with John Kish, Dan acquired his candy making skills and developed a strong work ethic because of the influence of Milton Hershey. Dan never met Mr. Hershey, but he continues to be a mentor to Dan.

I owned and operated a chocolate shop in Renfro Valley Ky. for eleven years, then moved back to Pa. and had two stores and a shop in Gettysburg and York Pa. for six years . Now I am back in Kentucky with my  four daughters ,who sometimes help.
